Please consider submitting an abstract to present at the “Offshore Wind, Fish, and Fisheries – Emerging Knowledge and Applications” Symposium, as part of the American Fisheries Society’s (AFS) 155th Annual Meeting (August 10-14, 2025, San Antonio TX). Similar to recent years, this symposium will broadly address interactions of offshore wind with fish, and commercial/recreational fisheries. Presentations may address but are not limited to: emerging ecological and socioeconomic research, oceanographic and meteorological interactions, innovative methods for assessment, scale considerations, current regulatory processes, cooperative research, management practices, empirical studies, laboratory investigations, modeling, monitoring design, human dimensions, or survey recommendations. Introducing our 2025 President – Elect Michael Auriemma. Michael earned a BA in Biology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 2014 and a PSM in Environmental Science from Stockton University in 2021. Michael has an interdisciplinary background in fisheries and environmental science, policy and permitting, and fishery management. He began his career as an observer in the Northeast Fisheries Observer Program and as a technician for the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries. He has since held positions as a fisheries biologist with New Jersey’s Marine Resources Administration and with environmental consultant Tetra Tech in the offshore energy sector. Currently with the Bureau of Marine Habitat and Shellfisheries, he is leading the development of New Jersey’s first hard clam management plan, modernization and expansion of the estuarine shellfish inventory survey program, and overseeing the Bureau’s efforts to monitor and support habitat restoration and nature-based solutions in the State.
