2016’s Annual Meeting – Rutgers University EcoComplex – Bordentown, NJ

Thursday and Friday,October 27 – 28, 2016
This year’s annual meeting will include a variety of presentations on work being conducted
throughout the region and beyond. Presentations will range from work in wadeable streams to studies offshore. We anticipate presentations on otolith microchemistry, predictors of fish
occurrence, fish habitat usage, dissolved oxygen requirements, endocrine disruption, bivalve research, species interactions, telemetered fishes, and many other topics. We will also have a session on the AFS 2018 annual meeting in Atlantic City hosted by future AFS president, Steve McMullen. Lastly, we will hold our annual business meeting and student travel fund auction.

Please review the meeting information below and consider presenting your work. This is the
perfect venue to present, network, and get feedback on your research.

Key Dates
September 30, 2016 – Last day to obtain discount lodging rates. See lodging information below.
September 30, 2016 – Presenters must register; must provide presentation title and abstract.
October 11, 2016 – Last day for early bird registration. To receive a MAC tshirt
you must register by this date.
October 11, 2016 – Last day for preregistration by check. Checks should be mailed by this date.
October 14, 2016 – Presenters will be notified of the designated time and place of their
presentation.
October 19, 2016 – Last day for online registration

Conference Registration
The registration fee covers a MACAFS tshirt (for early bird registration only), 2 days of talks,
light breakfast and lunch each day, poster session, and a social on Thursday evening, October 27th .

You will need to specify your choice of presentation type (poster or talk) and submit an
abstract if you would like to present. The registration fee for payment by credit card or check is $105 (there is an additional $6.24 service fee for online payments). If you fail to preregister, day of registration fees will be $115, so sign up early!

The EcoComplex is 15 minutes south of Trenton, NJ and is conveniently located near the New Jersey and Pennsylvania turnpikes, I295 and the Riverline Florence train station. All meeting events, except Thursday night’s social, will be held at the EcoComplex.

Lodging
A Holiday Inn is walking distance from Chickie’s & Pete’s, however it is scheduled for opening in early October and they are not accepting reservations yet.

In lieu of the Holiday Inn we have reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate at the Best Western Bordentown Inn. Below is the address and contact information along with a special rate for conference attendees. Please mention that you are staying for the “American Fisheries Society Conference” to receive the 20% discounted rate of $79.99 for either a single or double bed room when staying on October 26th or 27th . Oral Presentations
Presenters will have 20 minutes allotted for each oral presentation (15 + 5 min for questions).
Upon registration you will provide authorship, title, and abstract. Presenters will be notified of acceptance within a few weeks of their submission. Presenters will be notified of the designated time and place of their presentation by October 14 th , 2016. Contact David Keller at [email protected] for questions.

Poster Session
The poster session will be held at the EcoComplex on Thursday (see agenda below). Upon
registration you will provide authorship, title, and an abstract for your poster. Posters will be
taped to the walls of the EcoComplex atrium and may be put up any time on Thursday. Posters may remain on the walls for the duration of the conference. There is no criteria for posters dimensions. However, posters should be not be unwieldy. Light refreshments will be provided during the poster session.

Auction
We will have our annual student travel fund auction/raffle during the poster session and dinner social on Thursday. DONATIONS are needed! Please solicit donations from your friends, colleagues, and local businesses. All proceeds help support student participation in our meetings. Tax receipts can be provided on request. Students
We encourage student participation, and an award is given for best student oral and
poster presentation. Bring us your best! We will also need volunteers willing to help us
judging the amazing student presentations. Please consider volunteering. Contact
